The Power of  Gental Reset: Embracing Slower Days in February

As the calendar turns to March, I find myself reflecting on how quickly the year is already moving. Unlike the rush of January, I made a conscious decision to slow down in February, giving myself permission to reset and truly enjoy each day.
Coming off the rush of January, when there's so much pressure and buzz around setting new goals and getting the green light to do things that you've been putting off, I felt overwhelmed—and I was guilty of jumping on that bandwagon. But the pace felt too fast to really analyze what I want to be doing and how I want to live, so as February arrived, I made the conscious choice to slow down and enjoy each day instead.

Last year, I got in the habit of immediately scrolling on my phone right as I woke up and wasted so much of my morning doom-scrolling. That then caused me to rush out the door. So I decided not to go on my phone right away when I woke up. Thanks to my Hatch alarm clock, it makes it easier to wake up from the light it gives off and the birds chirping I set up for myself. I love it. It was hard at first not look at my notifications, but once I got into a routine, it changed how I view my mornings. I can immediately get a workout in and take time getting ready for the day, or finish an assignment. I highly recommend trying it!

Next, going to bed earlier made waking up easier. I don’t have any trouble falling asleep; it’s more of getting myself to start winding down for the day and to stop answering people all the time. Yes, sometimes I use the night to catch up on unanswered texts, but normally I don’t get a response till the morning.

I love taking an everything shower and feeling so clean as I get ready for bed. I love putting on a face mask or journaling about my day. At the start of a new year, I ordered some paper goods from the brand Wilde House Paper. I love the brand so much. It gives you access to so many resources, from journaling prompts to teaching you how to write down a simple brain dump.

I’ve also been loving low cardio workouts. Pilates and long treadmill walks have been my thing recently. I haven’t been as motivated to work out since it’s cold, but when I do, I’ve been leaning more towards Pilates. I recently discovered KBodySculpt on YouTube, and I feel stronger after one of her 45-minute classes. I don’t have a membership anywhere because I have a good little setup at home with weights, my Pilates mat, and a treadmill, but I truly think you can do her video in your bedroom if needed.

As I move into March, I’m reminded that slowing down isn’t about doing less or missing out; it’s about being more present for the moments that matter. February taught me the value of gentle resets, quiet routines, and listening to what I truly need. I hope these small insights inspire you to find your own pace and welcome the power of a slower season, whenever you need it most.
